AC Milan loanee Alexis Saelemaekers rescued a point for Bologna in their game against Udinese earlier today. He found the back of the net with a free-kick that caught the goalkeeper, and perhaps the player himself, by surprise.
Saelemaekers joined Bologna on a season-long loan in the summer and he has done well, scoring four goals and assisting an additional three. The fourth strike arrived today as Bologna managed to clinch a point against Udinese.
Thiago Motta’s side conceded the opener in the first half and then got a red card at the start of the second, making life very difficult. In the 78th minute, however, Saelemaekers stepped up for a free-kick and managed to catch the goalkeeper off guard with a good finish.

We will never know for sure if that’s what he intended to do, but it seemed to be more of a fluke than anything. In any case, the Belgian showcased his importance again and Bologna are expected to exercise the €9.5m clause in his contract this summer.
