Updates on Former Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III

Tuesday evening, second-year wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was released from the Las Vegas Raiders following a felony charge of DUI resulting in death. Ruggs III appeared in court for the first time this morning on felony charges of DUI resulting in death and reckless driving. At that time, Las Vegas police provided new details about the fiery crash that caused one fatality and many serious injuries.

Ruggs III has been accused of driving 156 mph in the seconds before the crash. Ruggs III’s vehicle was traveling 127 mph when the airbags deployed. Police previously said Ruggs III “seemed impaired,” but there was no evidence as to the cause of the impairment. Unfortunately, the police revealed the worst to be true as Ruggs III’s blood alcohol level was 0.161, more than twice the legal limit of .08.

Ruggs III was booked into Clark County Detention Center at 2:12 pm PST on Nov. 2. The morning of Nov. 3, the Clark County Judge ordered a $150,000 bail for Ruggs III with the highest level of monitoring if released. Prosecutors pushed for his bail to be increased to $1 million to no avail.

The vehicle belonging to Ruggs III also contained an illegal and loaded firearm.

The victim of the fatal crash has been identified as Tina O. Tinter, as well as her dog. Tinter was 23 years old. It is unknown what the condition of Ruggs III’s girlfriend is currently as she was also in the vehicle with Ruggs III at the time of the crash.
