Ex-Cardinals executive Terry McDonough facing disturbing allegations
Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Breaking News: Former Arizona Cardinals executive Terry McDonough is facing criminal charges of assault, and has been asked to appear in Court, next month on April 11.

As per the reports, his neighbor accused McDonough of choking him on March 12 and filed assault charges against him. According to Mecklenburg County court documents, the former NFL front-office executive chest-bumped him and then put his arm around his neck, trying to choke him while howling obscenities and derogatory terms.

As per the criminal affidavit filed by the victim, McDonough was angry at him because of some tractor equipment, which allegedly damaged his lawn. The document also included details of the accused’s long history of aggressive behavior.

The affidavit read:

[Terry McDonough] has a history of volatile behavior and also (was) publicized in national news related to a case he has with the Arizona Cardinals. He tried to strangle me unprovoked and both me and my family do not feel safe. The affidavit read

It’s quite strange that the victim mentioned McDonough’s previous disputes with the Cardinals when it’s not even remotely related to the alleged assault incident. The Associated Press attempted contacting McDonough via text messages and calls for his side of the story, but there hasn’t been any response.

Terry McDonough’s accusations against Cardinals’ owner Michael Bidwill

Last year in April, the former Cardinals’ executive filed an arbitration claim against the franchise owner Michael Bidwill, accusing him of cheating, discrimination, and harassment. It happened after McDonough was demoted, following his voicing opposition to a Cardinals’ scheme involving the use of “burner phones” to sidestep then-GM Steve Keim’s 2018 suspension, due to the DUI case.

However, in response to McDonough’s claim, Bidwill denied the Cardinals’ liability for them and blamed McDonough for sabotaging his career with his “erratic behavior.” The franchise cited several instances from his past to prove their accusation of McDonough’s violent behavior.

McDonough parted ways with the Cardinals on extremely bad terms. And as the arbitration case is still pending, his new assault charges give the Cardinals an advantage that they will surely use in future proceedings. In fact, several league sources said that the Cardinals shared the article of McDonough’s assault charges with them.
