Cardinals TE Trey McBride Named to NFL All-Improved Team

The Arizona Cardinals have seen a handful of players step up to the plate in 2023, though none have shined quite like second-year tight end Trey McBride.

McBride has seemingly taken the league by storm in the last few weeks since Zach Ertz was first placed on injured reserve before eventually being released. McBride has not only slotted into the starting role quite well - he's established himself as a reliable target for quarterback Kyler Murray.

McBride cracked Pro Football Focus' "All-Improvement Team", which highlights players that have made significant strides in 2023.

Going from a 2022 PFF Grade of 50.9 to 79.3, McBride was given the following analysis by Thomas Valentine.

"As most tight ends do in their rookie season, Trey McBride struggled. The talented second-round pick caught just 29 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown and started the 2023 season equally slow.

"However, over the past two months, McBride has been playing like one of the best tight ends in the NFL.

"Since he took over as a starter in Week 8, McBride has more targets (53) and catches (41) than any tight end in the NFL, also racking up the second-most yards (440). He has proven to be a reliable chain-mover while flashing the ability to create after the catch. He looks like the real deal."

In his postgame interview after another dominant display in Pittsburgh, he certainly sounds like the real deal, too.

The Cardinals will gain some much needed rest from their bye and host the Dan Francisco 49ers in Week 15.
