Alex Pereira is the new UFC light heavyweight champion.

Pereira and Prochazka collided inside the world famous Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night (November 11). The vacant 205-pound gold was at stake.

Prochazka threw out a leg kick early. Pereira tried answering back with a couple of his own but they were out of range. Prochazka threw out an uppercut. A hard leg kick from Pereira dropped Prochazka. Another leg kick had Prochazka off balance. Pereira's leg kicks proved to be a problem for Prochazka. Jiri shot in for a takedown and pushed his opponent against the fence. "Poatan" went for a guillotine choke, but Prochazka scored a takedown.

Pereira got back to his feet and landed a right hand. Prochazka threw an uppercut near the end of the opening frame.

Prochazka was active in the second stanza, moving forward and throwing strikes. Prochazka blocked a high kick. A right hand from Prochazka backed Pereira up. Both men exchanged punches. Prochazka pressured Pereira to the fence. The two men returned to the center of the Octagon. A right hand over the top was there for Jiri, but Pereira landed a massive counter hook. "Poatan" sealed the deal with elbows to Prochazka's head as he was attempting a takedown.

Many on social media have debated whether or not the fight was stopped early. The UFC commentary team also believed the bout could've went on longer.
